Game Overview
Street Basketball (SB) is a casual sports game developed by Baltoro Games where players control a rising basketball star competing in 1v1 matches of increasing difficulty. Players can unlock new outfits and arenas as they progress through the game. The game supports both solo play and split-screen multiplayer, allowing friends to face off in local competition.

My Role
Street Basketball was part of Baltoro Games' effort to create slightly larger casual games. I was tasked with designing a basketball adaptation of the popular casual sports subgenre “headball.” My role involved creating the user experience, defining game rules, balancing mechanics, and designing a small in-game economy. Working alongside a developer and artist, we focused on refining player controls and crafting a smooth, enjoyable gameplay experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing the core gameplay mechanics, rules, and progression system
  • Balancing the game's difficulty and in-game economy
  • Developing a user-friendly interface and enjoyable player experience

Key Insights
Street Basketball was a fun and insightful project that allowed me to explore simple yet meaningful mechanics within a casual sports game. A significant portion of development was dedicated to refining the handling of the player character, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience. This focus on user experience provided valuable lessons that I applied to other game projects in the future.
